A fifth round of Western Sahara talks must be held "as soon as possible", UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said in New York on Monday (December 14th). "We need to make progress," MAP quoted the UN chief as saying at his monthly press conference. The UN needs to "create some political confidence among the parties concerned", Ban added. He has recently renewed public calls for Morocco and the Polisario to co-operate with Western Sahara Envoy Christopher Ross's effort to schedule new negotiations.
