Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan phoned on Thursday Russian President Dmitriy Medvedev and Qatari Amir Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and congratulated them after their countries were chosen to host the FIFA World Cup Championship.
FIFA announced on Thursday that Russia would host the 2018 FIFA World Cup while Qatar would host the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
During the phone conversation, Medvedev told Erdogan that Russia wanted to benefit from Turkey's experiences in hosting a major sports event.
Qatari Amir Al Thani thanked for Turkey's support to Qatar during the phone conversation with Erdogan.
