Bogota - Left-wing Colombian rebels killed four police officers and three soldiers in separate attacks in the south and central regions of the country on Tuesday, officials said.
The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) attacked a military patrol near Vista Hermosa in Meta province in central Colombia, where three soldiers were killed and four were injured, according to Miguel Briceno, mayor of the town.
In a separate attack, FARC forces killed four police officers and injured three others as they worked on rooting out illegal coca plantations in Guaviare province, in the south, the local police director Hector Montenegro said.
The Colombian military said it had killed a FARC commander, Luis Triana, alias Enrique or Calambrina, in a clash in Huila province.
