Vietnam wishes to tighten ties with Algeria

The government and people of Vietnam wish and will try their best to bolster relations with Algeria in all fields, said Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung while receiving new Algerian Ambassador, Chikhi Cherif, in Hanoi on January 14.

PM Dung congratulated Chikhi Cherif on his appointment as Algeria’s new Ambassador to Vietnam, expressing hope that the ambassador would actively contribute to strengthening the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

The PM spoke highly of socio-economic achievements the government and people of Algeria have attained and suggested that the two countries should bolster cooperation in economy for mutual benefit in line with their potential.

Vietnam will work closely with Algeria in preparation for a meeting of the Vietnam-Algeria Joint Committee and international multilateral forums for peace, cooperation and development, he added.

For his part, the Algerian Ambassador praised Vietnam’s socio-economic performance, particularly in coping with the impact of the global economic crisis.

He said he will spare no efforts to increase and expand projects in Vietnam, contributing to tightening the fine traditional relations between the two nations.
