UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Tuesday called on all concerned parties to peacefully resolve the political situation in Kyrgyzstan.
Ban said in a statement that he "is following with concern the continuing constitutional stalemate in Kyrgyzstan and the threats to use force."
"In order to avoid a further escalation and destabilization of the situation, the secretary-general appeals to all parties concerned to resolve the issue peacefully and on the basis of the Constitution," Ban's statement said.
Ban said he has instructed Special Envoy Jan Kubis to continue working with all parties to stabilize the situation.
The interim government of Kyrgyzstan has said ousted President Kurmanbek Bakiyev no longer has presidential immunity and called on him to surrender by the end of Tuesday, threatening to seize him in a special operation if he continued to defy the interim government, reports said.
The ousted president has said he will resign if the interim government guarantees his and his family's safety, reports said.
