Tehran - The Iranian judiciary ordered the amputation of one hand and one leg of a convicted armed robber and hanged an accomplice, local media reported Wednesday.
Amputations are a punishment for armed robbery under Islamic laws.
The process was carried out Tuesday in the southern port city of Mahshahr, where one hand and one leg of the convict were removed at the city's prison, the daily newspaper Iran reported.
The accomplice was publicly hanged in the same city after his death verdict was confirmed by the Supreme Court.
Murder, rape, armed robbery and trafficking over 5 kilograms of drugs are among the crimes punishable by death in Iran.
