Gaza City - The Palestinian Islamic Jihad organization on Saturday claimed that its militants had tried without success to capture an Israeli soldier whose glider accidentally drifted across the border and landed in the Gaza Strip. The organization's military wing, Al-Quds Brigades, said in statement that floods in the area on the border between central Gaza and Israel had prevented the capture of the soldier.
The soldier's glider reportedly landed to the east of al-Bureij refugee camp, according to the pro-Iranian group. The Israeli military has not commented on the claim.
Al-Quds meanwhile warned that it "would not hesitate to carry out the capturing of Israeli soldiers to swap them for brave Palestinian prisoners languishing in the Israeli prisons."
