Moscow - Ousted Kyrgyz president Kurmanbek Bakiyev has resigned, the interim government confirmed early Friday, it was reported in Moscow.
The Kyrgyz interim government led by pro-Western Roza Otunbayeva confirmed it had received a resignation letter from Bakiyev, the Interfax news agency reported.
Further details were not immediately available on a day when Bakiyev was able to leave Kyrgyzstan, for neighboring Kazakhstan, in an internationally brokered deal to calm the situation.
The deal between Bakiyev and the interim government was brokered by the presidents of the United States, Russia and Kazakhstan, according to the Vienna-based Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
