Jammu, Mar 7 : Alleging that Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has not learnt any lesson from the previous mistakes committed by the National Conference (NC), the Socialist Democratic Party (SDP) president Drakshan Andrabi today said the Omar-led government is not only 'misleading' but also 'looting' the people of the state.
''The NC-led government is only repeating its old practice of misusing public and government money for nourishing their political interests,'' Dr Andrabi told reporters at a press conference here this afternoon.
She alleged that Mr Abdullah, in one of his statements, has claimed that Rs 2,700 crore was yet to be spent out of the 5,500 crore (grant from the Central Government) on various development works with only few days left in the current financial year.
''The government either wants to utilize funds only on files, or this amount is going to the pockets of the politicians and the bureaucrats functioning within the government,'' the SDP leader added.
She further said that starvation-like situation has emerged in various remote areas of the state due to the non-availability of ration and other essential commodities, which are being black-marketed by the contractors.
Dr Andrbai, however, also termed the ongoing present Assembly session as a 'fish market'. ''The legislators, instead of seriously discussing the masses' problems and various other issues, are busy blaming each other and making mockery of the democratic set up,'' she added.
