Turkey's PM meets Ahmedinejad in Istanbul

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad at his office in Istanbul on Wednesday.

The meeting also comes a month before planned nuclear talks with six major powers in Istanbul.

Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu was also in attendance at the closed-door meeting.

Ahmedinejad is currently in Istanbul to attend the 11th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) on Thursday.

Heads of state and government of the ECO member countries, representatives of international bodies as well as officials from guest countries are set to participate in the meeting which will discuss several agreements and regional cooperation projects.

ECO was co-founded by Turkey, Iran and Pakistan in 1985 in a bid to develop economic, technical and cultural cooperation between member countries. In 1992, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan joined the organization.
