AMMAN (Petra) –– HRH Prince Ali on Thursday said that if he was elected as Asia’s vice president on FIFA’s executive committee, he would work to boost the sport of football in the Arab world. In an interview with CNN Arabic, the Prince expressed hope to receive Qatar’s backing for his bid to the FIFA post, saying his election will serve the Gulf state as well as the entire region. Stating that the main purpose of his candidacy for election, slated for January 6 in Doha, is to bring change to and restore the reputation of the international football body, Prince Ali said he has the expertise to put the sport of football into the right direction. The Prince highlighted the achievements Jordan has made in developing youth and women’s football. In October, Prince Ali, president of the Jordan Football Association and the West Asian Football Federation, officially announced his nomination for the FIFA position.
