Libyan leader Moamer Kadhafi and Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos met in Tripoli on Monday (March 8th). The purpose of the surprise visit was to discuss Libya's current diplomatic dispute with Switzerland, AFP quoted a Western diplomatic source as saying on condition of anonymity. Libyan state news agency JANA reported, however, that Moratinos was in Libya to give Kadhafi a message from King Juan Carlos of Spain commending the nations' "fruitful co-operation and relations".
