Algerian Foreign Minister Mourad Medelci and US Presidential Envoy for Science and Technology Elias Zerhouni met in Algiers on Monday (March 8th) to discuss new science, technology and economic development partnerships. "President Obama has sent me to say very clearly that he intends to extend relations between Algeria and the US and step up co-operation between the institutions and researchers of both countries, in order to make it more diversified and constructive," APS quoted Zerhouni as saying following the meeting. The US official also met with Health Minister Said Barakat to discuss bilateral co-operation in the health sector.
