Gamers break marathon world record

A dozen hardy gamers entered the Guinness World Records this week after successfully completing a grueling 24-hour gaming marathon.

For a day and a night, twelve gamers played EA SPORTS' latest football title FIFA 10 at London's Victoria station.

Braving the cold and the commuters, the team set the first endurance gaming record - adjudicated by a Guinness official - for their continuous button-bashing efforts.

The stunt was organized by Stryxa who run online FIFA football leagues.

After the event an exhausted Paul Spacey, managing director of Stryxa, said: "It really was a gaming marathon and Stryxa are now the proud holders of an Official Guinness World Record."

He added: "Everyone is shattered after 24 hours of non-stop FIFA play. We've actually been treating players for minor thumb injuries since the record was broken!"
