Syria Establishes Front For Missile Purchases

WASHINGTON [MENL] -- The regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad was said to have established a Western front to acquire surface-to-air missiles from Europe and the United States.

The Syrian opposition said Assad's younger brother has overseen operations abroad to acquire Western weapons for Damascus. The opposition said one member of the Syrian operation has been arrested in the United States on charges of seeking to acquire the Stinger air defense system.
