The Pakistani military says it has found substantial evidence of Indian involvement in assisting pro-Taliban militants in the South Waziristan region near the border with Afghanistan.
"Indian literature and weapons used by the terrorists have been recovered from South Waziristan and more evidence is being gathered," military spokesman Athar Abbas told reporters in Islamabad, a Press TV correspondent reported late on Monday night.
"We have sent all the proofs of Indian involvement to the Foreign Office for their onward presentation at the appropriate forum," he said.
Earlier in the day, Pakistani troops killed another 12 militants during the ongoing operation in South Waziristan and took full control of Kanigurram, one of the biggest towns in the rugged tribal region.
Pakistani Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesman Abdul Basit told Press TV that the evidence obtained by the security forces is being examined and the issue will be discussed in a high-level meeting in the next few days.
