Egyptian Deputy Prime Minister Yehia el-Gamal resigned, state Nile TV reported on Tuesday evening.
Gamal was appointed the post in late February. He has just ended his tour to the Republic of South Sudan to celebrate the latter's independence.
The resignation of Gamal has been one of the demands of many protestors in Tahrir Square in downtown Cairo over the past few days.
