Jordan records 16 COVID-19 fatalities, 1, 075 new cases on Thursday

The Ministry of Health announced 16 Covid-19 fatalities and 1,075 new cases were recorded in the Kingdom on Thursday, bringing the death toll to 4,107 and the caseload to 312,043.

The new infections comprised 531 cases in the capital Amman, 188 in Irbid, including 34 in the northern border district of Ramtha, 98 in Balqa, 57 in Zarqa, 56 in Mafraq, 42 in Jerash, 27 in Karak, 25 in Madaba, 23 in Ajloun, 12 in Tafila, 12 in Aqaba, and 4 in Ma'an, according to the media statement issued by the Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Health.

The number of patients who were admitted to hospitals today stood at 77, while 61 cases have recovered and discharged, the statement added.

According to the brief, the cumulative number of recoveries recorded Thursday, whether at hospitals or home, stood at 1,271, bringing the total to 294,802 since the outbreak began.

Moreover, the number of patients still receiving treatment at hospitals has reached 462, including 76 on ventilators.

The statement also indicated that the number of confirmed and suspected cases on ICU beds has reached 165, or 17% of the total ICU bed capacity.

With regard to testing, 25,014 tests were conducted Thursday, 4.30 percent of which were positive, the statement noted.

The total number of tests administered since March has increased to 3,515,132, the joint statement noted.
