SWIETOSZOW, Poland (AP) — Some 2,200 Polish and British troops are taking part in joint tactical training this month that is part of NATO's reaction to the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
Some of the troops took part in the "Lynx-14" exercise Friday in Swietoszow, in southwestern Poland, that involved the repelling of a tank attack. The exercise was part of a larger training exercise called "Black Eagle" that is involving more than 1,000 British armored infantry troops, along with 300 vehicles. It is the largest British armored exercise in Eastern Europe since 2008. Another 1,000 troops come from Poland's 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade.
"Black Eagle" is part of NATO's response to the perceived threat to Europe's security from Russia's role in the Ukraine crisis.
