Some 1.5 million Algerians will receive a pay hike in May, Tout sur l'Algerie quoted General Union of Algerian Workers (UGTA) chief Abdelmadjid Sidi Said as saying Monday (March 1st) in Algiers at the 10th UGTA Congress. "The sectors of health and higher education – that are negotiating relentlessly with the respective ministries – will also see an increase in their salaries," the trade union leader was quoted as saying. Sidi Said offered no further details on the promised wage boost.
