Pakistani authorities have further extended the jail term of a notorious pro-Taliban leader, Sufi Muhammad, who was arrested three months ago.
After a meeting with high-ranking police and government officials, a senior Pakistani official Sahibzada Anis extended the imprisonment of the founder of the Tehrik-e-Nizaf-e-Shirat-e-Mohammadi for another month, a Press TV correspondent reported.
Sufi Muhammad along with his three sons from Peshawar was arrested on July 25.
In February, Sufi played a key role in inking an agreement between the government and the pro-Taliban militants in Pakistan to maintain peace in Swat and the tribal region.
The peace deal, however, could not last even for one month as the militants targeted the government installations and security forces in the tribal regions.
