Regional security situation deteriorating: Indian PM

Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has warned of the possibility of fresh militant attacks across the country amid a deteriorating overall security situation in the region.

At a conference in New Delhi on Tuesday, Singh told Indian armed forces commanders that India had thwarted many attacks since the Mumbai incident last year.

"There are regular intelligence reports of imminent attacks in the country. This is a matter of deep concern, and there is no room for complacency."

The premier added that both "state" and "non-state" actors are involved in militancy in the region.
